Happy #MermaidMonday from Kathryn and the crew!

The mermaids hit the water every single day—well, unless the weather gets in the way. Want to catch a show? Grab the free Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park app for up-to-date showtimes and instant alerts. You’ll get notifications about weather closures, camp dates, capacity updates, Buccaneer Bay hours, mermaid performances, and anything else you need to know. Check out all the details at https://friendsofweekiwachee.com/app/.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park sits in Spring Hill, Florida, and it’s a one-of-a-kind spot. You’ve got mermaid shows in a glass theater, a spring-fed water park called Buccaneer Bay, and a laid-back, 20-minute riverboat cruise. The water here stays a steady, cool 72 degrees—crystal clear and perfect for kayaking or just spotting wildlife. If you’re aiming for a weekend visit, get there early. The park has a strict capacity limit and once it’s full, that’s it. Some attractions and shows fill up fast, too.

Here’s what’s waiting for you:

Mermaid Shows: Real performers put on synchronized underwater acts for a crowd in the famous theater.

Buccaneer Bay: Slides, swimming, and plenty of fun in natural spring water.

Riverboat Cruise: Take a 20-minute guided ride down the Weeki Wachee River—keep an eye out for manatees, turtles, and birds.

Kayaking and Paddling: Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and float down the river’s clear water.

Park Ranger Animal Show: Catch an educational show about the local wildlife of Florida.

A few things to keep in mind before you go:

The park fills up fast. If you want to get in, especially on weekends, show up early.

Your ticket covers the mermaid show, riverboat cruise, and Buccaneer Bay.

Seats for the mermaid show go quickly—it’s first-come, first-served.

You’ll need to reserve a time for the riverboat cruise, but that’s included in your admission.

If the weather turns bad, they shut things down for safety. No refunds or rain checks if that happens.

To keep the river clean, don’t bring disposable containers, plastic bottles, cans, or alcohol on the water.

Plan ahead, get there early, and you’re set for a pretty magical day.
