After years of building a loyal readership, renowned food columnist and culinary travel expert Stephen Fries is finally offering food enthusiasts the chance to join him on his acclaimed gastronomic journeys.
For years, fans of Stephen Fries have followed his flavorful journeys with one recurring wish: “I wish I could be in your suitcase!” That wish has now become a delicious reality.
With the launch of Worth Tasting Weekends, Stephen brings his celebrated columns to life, transforming his signature blend of storytelling and culinary exploration into immersive, in-person experiences. Florida travel aficionados will be thrilled to learn Fort Myers at Luminary Hotel & Co. is on Worth Tasting’s schedule for November 7th through 10th, 2025.

Worth Tasting Weekends are curated for discerning travelers who value insider access and authentic local flavor. Each weekend features exclusive dining opportunities, interactive culinary demonstrations, chef meet-and-greets, guided market tours, and private tastings, all personally led by Stephen Fries and co-host Christopher Bartlett.
Christopher, a seasoned entrepreneur and CEO of GEM Advertising, also brings significant hospitality experience through his work with Poetic Sunset Escapes, ensuring each event is professionally executed and memorable.

Stephen’s vision is straightforward: to move beyond observation and provide guests the opportunity to actively participate in the culinary discovery process. “I’ve always loved sharing the joy of culinary discovery through my writing,” says Fries. “Now, instead of reading about it, people can taste it, see it, and experience it firsthand.”
Each Worth Tasting Weekend is meticulously designed to showcase the distinct culinary identity of its host destination, whether it’s a coastal retreat featuring seafood specialties or an urban escape with curated menus from award-winning chefs. Guests can expect a sophisticated itinerary that includes direct engagement with local growers, food producers, and vibrant farmers markets, offering a comprehensive perspective on the regional food landscape.
Stephen Fries brings decades of expertise as a food columnist, culinary educator, and founder of the Hospitality programs at Gateway Community College. His approach combines journalistic insight with hands-on experience, ensuring that every itinerary is both informative and engaging. The goal: to deliver weekends that are not just escapes, but true gastronomic adventures, leaving guests with both exceptional memories and valuable industry connections.
Upcoming Worth Tasting Weekends include Fort Myers, Florida at Luminary Hotel & Co., scheduled for November 7-10. Participation is limited; early reservations are encouraged.
